♥ diy crayon pumpkins

Monday, October 17, 2011

Carving pumpkins is my favorite thing to do for Halloween (besides dressing up of course).  Every year I try and do something different and unique but this time instead of carving, I thought I would just decorate the pumpkins so I could enjoy them a lot longer.  I decided to get a little extra crafty and ended up melting different colored crayons on the pumpkins.  It's a fun little DIY Halloween project that will surely impress your guests!

wow, I love this idea! the pumpkins came out so pretty. I've never really liked carving pumpkins all that much because it just makes them rot faster, and then you don't get to enjoy them as long.

Did you do anything to the pumpkins before melting? My dots keep falling off! I did use a baby pumpkin not a large one, not sure if that makes a difference?

Also, I am doing this with seniors so I did not want flame (and don't have enough hair dryers to try). Instead I used the tip of a glue gun to melt the crayon, which worked great.

I tried this for one of our pumpkins this year. Fun and cute but time consuming. Also is there any secret to make the melted Crayon not fall off the pumpkin? I had to move mine a few times and the drops kept falling off. I will be doing this again next year :)
